Remember the puzzle game Unravel and its star: a cute little yarn guy named Yarny? He tackled puzzles by unrolling the fabric of his body itself, in the same way a human might feed his intestines with a carabiner and use it as a tether for climbing. Well, some of the brains behind Unravel are working on a new game called Hela. This time, it's less about yarn and more about a little mouse doing parkour. It still retains some of the same physical gymnastics as its predecessor, though. Namely, using your tongue as bungee cords.
Hela is a co-op puzzle adventure game from the folks at Windup, whose founders include former Coldwood Interactive members. You and/or your friend take on the role of the paws of a brave little mouse. Apparently, you're a mouse because you're a witch's familiar and she needs your help, so you set off to explore the Scandinavian landscape, solving puzzles and such.
The trailer only shows you flying over pretty gardens in the style of Just Cause, as well as the fact that you have a backpack that is a frog. And the frog can produce a long, elastic tongue that you can use to open slats or swing yourself or your friend to new heights. Otherwise, it looks like your backpack can be used to store mushrooms and other goodies, which can be brewed into potions or upgrades.
That’s all we know, to be honest. But the developers tout the game as a “delightful blend of adventure and relaxation” where you’ll perform “acts of kindness and feel their healing impact.” Oh, it’s adorable. I can only imagine how the other members of the animal kingdom would react if I, a giver of acts of kindness, rode up to them on a pink blade covered in frog saliva, delivering a potion made of mold and some dirt I found under a flower pot.
There's no release date for this one yet, but you can keep an eye on it on Steam.
