RoadCraft is a heavy construction simulation from the creators of MudRunner

Announced at this year's Geoffcom, RoadCraft is a new game from the vehicle designers behind MudRunner and SnowRunner. That means it's basically a simulation game where you take on the terrain with tires, except this time you're not just driving, but managing a fleet of machines to do heavy-duty construction work. Think logistics, cars, cranes, and paving beautiful new roads from a once-decrepit pile of trash.

RoadCraft looks to take Saber's expertise in rough terrain and how vehicles react to that rough terrain and integrate it more into a management sim. That means it's more about driving your vehicles back and forth to turn mess into something beautiful. You'll take control of bulldozers to clear blocked paths, use haulers to get vehicles out of sticky situations, and use cranes to lift objects with precision. I'm particularly taken with the idea of laying down hot asphalt with your paver and then flattening it with a roller. There's no way it wouldn't be the most satisfying thing in gaming.

And since this is a construction game, you'll be gathering resources like sand, wood, and tar to make the terrain suitable for your iron fleet. “Supply factories and sand quarries to ensure continuous production of resources needed for roads and bridges,” the press release says. You may also notice this in the trailer, but you'll also have to plot routes on a map so that your vehicles don't interfere with each other. This suggests that there's an element of automation on the resource-gathering side, in addition to direct vehicle control. Only time will tell if you can squeeze into the driver's seat of any vehicle, or if it is reserved for a more specific thing.

The game is expected to be released in 2025 and you can find it on Steam.
