Sumerian Six is Shadow Tactics but you hit Nazis in the back of the head with a hammer

I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that the voice actors for Sumerian Six, a Mimimi-style stealth movie, are Americans imitating British accents. The opening radio conversation between Sid, a member of the starting crew, and a friend has that charming telltale tinge of overenthusiastic cockney. It also features the words “bloody” and “arse” in quick succession, though thankfully not next to each other. The only piles are the logs Sid is crouching behind as he prepares to sneak up to a Nazi-guarded cable car. It's the only reference to haemorrhoids I'll ever make on this site. Until the next time I have to write about Andrew Wilson.

“Oil, just use my trusty knife,” Sid mutters as I take down my first guard. Right away, the animation and sound cues evoke the same Shadow Tactics or Desperados III you’re probably expecting. That’s fine by me, that’s exactly what I’m here for. Mimimi’s conclusion was a real punch in the gut, and while I don’t expect anyone to match their exceptional work anytime soon, it’s at least reassuring to see Warsaw studio Artificer picking up the torch.

That's not to say that Sumerian Six doesn't introduce new tricks quickly. Sid carries a small robotic spider that he can use to “hitchhike” on guards, allowing him to slip by unnoticed along their patrol routes. I'm also a fan of the time-sped-up option, which saves you from having to wait for a guard to get within range of the spider.

A scientist named Isabella soon joins the team. She has a cloaking device, which is probably the most uninteresting gadget you can give a stealth character, even if it drains its battery quickly when she moves. She also has a totally brutal takedown ability with a regular hammer that just can't help but get stuck in the back of every Nazi skull she swings it at. Very satisfying.

I'm currently far too involved in the spatial demands of long-distance transport with another game to spend as much time with Sumerian Six as I'd like right now, but here are some details from the Steam page.

Inspired by real places and events, Sumerian Six takes you on a journey through an alternate history where folk stories and conspiracy theories are as real as the Nazi threat.

Led by Hans Kammler, a former member of your squad, the Nazis draw on the occult to create the ultimate Wunderwaffe. Face heavily armed, mutated, and supernaturally-charged forces, and put your strategic skills and dexterity to the ultimate test.

As you delve deeper into the Nazi plot, you'll encounter occult scientific weapons and ancient Sumerian artifacts tied to Kammler's machinations. A dark future awaits if the Nazis are victorious, so do your best to prevent this dark timeline from coming to fruition in this real-time tactical stealth adventure.

It's coming out in a few days, actually, on September 2nd. There's a demo on Steam at the time of writing. It also looks like one of the six is a bear.
